With “blockbuster” products as its sharp edge, General Technology Shenyang Machine Tool has delivered a “real-world performance report” demonstrating how domestically produced industrial machine tools have broken through longstanding bottlenecks and achieved a major breakthrough. On March 20, General Technology Shenyang Machine Tool held a grand launch event for its “New Quality Empowerment, Technological Breakthrough, and Blockbuster Leadership” lineup of flagship products. More than 150 representatives from the industry chain and the media gathered to conduct on-site inspections, view product demonstrations, and engage in in-depth discussions, jointly witnessing the systematic achievements made by China’s indigenous industrial machine tools in key technological breakthroughs, the cultivation of new-quality productivity, the redefinition of quality and value, and the co-building of a thriving industrial ecosystem. The event was chaired by Liu Qi, Deputy General Manager of General Technology Shenyang Machine Tool.

Wang He, Deputy General Manager of General Technology Group Machine Tool Co., Ltd., attended the meeting and delivered a welcome address. Wang He noted that at the General Technology Group Machine Tool Industry Ecosystem Partner Conference held on March 18, all participants in Beijing jointly discussed the grand strategy for developing the industry ecosystem and outlined an ambitious blueprint for the high-quality development of domestically produced machine tools. Today’s launch event for breakthrough products in Shenyang is a vivid manifestation of this strategic blueprint and a powerful testament to General Technology Group’s deepened collaboration with its partners in co-building the industry ecosystem.

In his address, Guo Sheng, Secretary of the Party Committee of General Technology Shenyang Machine Tool, stated: “This blockbuster product has achieved groundbreaking advancements in key performance indicators such as precision control, operational efficiency, stability, and level of intelligentization. It not only aligns closely with the manufacturing needs of China’s priority sectors but also delivers efficient, high-quality solutions to our customers. Liu Hongqiang, Deputy General Manager of Shenyang Machine Tool Co., Ltd., unveiled and provided an in-depth overview of nine blockbuster products across four categories, including vertical machining centers, horizontal CNC lathes, gantry machining centers, and vertical five-axis linkage machining centers. Notably, the VMU40AM integrated additive–subtractive vertical five-axis machining center has mastered key core technologies, achieving domestic research and development as well as independent, controllable production—from the core control system to critical functional modules. The GMC2550wsμ moving-table, moving-gantry gantry five-face machining center has broken foreign technology monopolies and successfully filled a gap in China’s high-end, precision gantry machining sector. Meanwhile, the VMU63P vertical five-axis machining center has achieved import substitution in key national priority areas.

Underpinning this transformation are sustained increases in R&D investment and systematic technological innovation. In 2025, the company allocated RMB 215 million to R&D and raised RMB 1.7 billion through capital markets. Leveraging the advantages of its position as a central state-owned enterprise under the General Technology Group, the company has collaborated with upstream and downstream partners to establish an innovation consortium, thereby establishing a positive feedback loop of “technological breakthroughs—product iteration—market validation.”

Smart factories produce high-quality machine tools. That morning, attendees toured the technological-upgrade workshop, the production floor, and the exhibition center, gaining firsthand insight into the “power of quality.” On five 24/7 unmanned flexible production lines, a dedicated 5G network, an MES system, and an intelligent scheduling platform have been fully deployed, enabling seamless equipment connectivity, end-to-end data integration, and intelligent decision-making. The high-quality machine tools manufactured in this smart factory are leveraging “data” to reinvent their reputation for “quality.”

Take the HTC40Q CNC horizontal lathe as an example: its five critical components are manufactured in a single step within the “dark factory,” enabling full-process traceability. Meanwhile, the vertical machining center series leverages operational data amassed from a vast user ecosystem to build a full-lifecycle quality-data platform, thereby achieving fault attribution, accountability tracing, and trend prediction. The team led by Peng Dongbiao at the Machine Tool Research Institute has translated accumulated operational expertise into key parameters and codified them into reusable digital process packages, further enhancing the stable delivery of high-demand product quality and imbuing machine tools with new value.

At the press conference, Xu Yongming, General Manager of General Technology Shenyang Machine Tool, unveiled a dedicated marketing and support program for the company’s blockbuster products. Leveraging the combined advantages of “high-end product technology plus exceptional value,” these flagship offerings have established robust competitive strength in the market.

Since the beginning of the year, the company has systematically tested the market with a strategy of phased product launches and precision-targeted marketing, receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback. The iV85 emphasizes exceptional value for money, catering to the pragmatic “just good enough” use cases in the general machinery sector and securing 103 orders; the VMC850Q-A focuses on the domestic mid-range market, meeting customers’ core needs for long-term performance that remains as good as new and uncompromising reliability, and has garnered 123 orders; the VMC850Q is specifically designed for the automotive and new-energy industries, delivering a quality experience defined by relentless pursuit of excellence, and has secured 124 orders; the HTC40Q targets key manufacturing sectors such as automotive and bearings, with overall performance benchmarked against leading Japanese standards, and has closed 110 deals. This tiered, progressive product portfolio effectively addresses the diversified needs of different market segments, strengthens the company’s bargaining power and brand influence, and fosters a virtuous cycle of mission-driven innovation and market-driven growth.

At the meeting, Zhang Liang, Director of the General Technology Shenyang Machine Tool Technology Center, unveiled the “Humanoid Robot Industry Solution,” showcasing the company’s strategic approach of “technology pre-research plus market positioning” in emerging fields, leveraging “blockbuster” products to seize the commanding heights of future industries.

Global top-tier partners such as FANUC and Siemens took to the stage one after another to share their insights, highlighting the value of deep supply-chain collaboration from the perspective of digital empowerment.

Representatives of the distributors also shared their heartfelt reflections on working side by side. More than 150 industry-chain partners gathered to witness the fundamental reshaping of the industrial machine-tool ecosystem: breaking through technological bottlenecks upstream, stimulating market demand downstream, and establishing a closed-loop system in the middle that seamlessly integrates customer feedback with product iteration—shifting from “single transactions” to “co-creation of value.”
